Hello Parents and Families!
By this point, I have started teaching your children full-time,
and Mrs. Brittain has graciously allowed me to post in the class blog!
It was a fantastic week and our first full one in quite a while!
This week, we wrapped up our reading unit on soil, and next week will begin
discussing “Why are some changes difficult?” We will finish up our math unit
on Monday and students will take their test on Tuesday. Their next unit will be
on fractions. In writing next week, students will begin putting together their expository
pieces about special places in their houses.
The class has loved learning all about spinning objects in
science! I’ve included some pictures of their fun with tops, zoomers, and twirlers.
(Sorry about some of the blurry pictures! While experimenting with different
kinds of motion, the students are definitely in motion, as well J)
Next week is “Read Across America” Week to celebrate Dr. Seuss’
birthday! We have some great centers planned, and Wednesday will be “Silly Sock”
Day, Thursday is “Favorite Hat” Day, and Friday will be “Favorite Character”
day. We can’t wait to see how your children come dressed to school! Also, as a
reminder, on Wednesday we will be walking over to the high school to see the
musical “Once Upon a Mattress” in the morning.
We ended the week with some great hairstyles for crazy hair
day, and read a Scholastic News article all about penguins. I’ve included a
picture of the class posing like penguins so that you could see some of the fabulous
hairstyles! We also celebrated Isaiah’s birthday with some delicious giant chocolate
chip cookies! Happy birthday Isaiah!
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your and Mrs.
Brittain’s support! I absolutely love working with your children and am truly enjoying this experience.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Miss Waskow
